Nashville Public Radio has hired Michael Robertson as the Director of Finance. His first day at the organization will be Feb. 7.
Robertson (he, him) has been the Business Finance Manager at Metro Nashville Public Schools for nearly six years. Before that, he served as the Comptroller at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center. Robertson has also worked in various roles at Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Company. He received his undergraduate degree and MBA at Tennessee State University.
“As a native Nashvillian, I have seen the city change tremendously over the last few decades,” Robertson says. “I appreciate the mission of Nashville Public Radio to provide entertainment as well as objective news about what is going on in the city to an increasingly diverse community. So, when the opportunity to join a team that is focused on representing all of Nashville in its programming content, in a respectful manner, presented itself, I decided to seize the moment.”
Robertson will work closely with Carl Pedersen, Vice President of Finance and Technology, and Finance Specialist Jennifer Roller, as well as President and CEO Steve Swenson.
“Michael joins Nashville Public Radio during a time of rapid growth for our nonprofit,” Swenson says. “His experience will be vital in future strategic planning, budget preparation and upgrading the organization’s systems to help continue our growth path.”
Born and raised in Nashville, Robertson now resides in Hendersonville. As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (Nashville Alumni Chapter), he works with the Kappa League, a mentoring program for young men focused on leadership, social and educational development. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, sci-fi movies and TV shows, light hiking, and amusement parks.
