There is almost nothing more exhilarating than the feeling of discovering something new — being the first to realize an idea’s potential. This month on the docket, three people whose careers revolve around discovery: Leon Bellan, an engineer at Vanderbilt University who creates artificial blood vessels with a cotton candy machine; Ann Powers, an NPR Music blogger and critic (and a very recent transplant to Nashville) who curates undiscovered music; and Marcus Whitney, a serial entrepreneur who mentors and invests in tech startups.
