Mandolinist Mike Compton joins the Nashville-based Hubert Davis & The Season Travelers; Keith Whitley leaves Ralph Stanley to join J.D. Crowe & the New South; Charlie Sizemore takes Keith's place with the Clinch Mountain Boys; Bill Harrell launches his new band, the Virginians; and Fiddler Leslie Keith, author o the Black Mountain Rag, passes away at the age of 71.
