A Murfreesboro medical facility acquired earlier this year by Franklin-based Acadia Healthcare plans to more than double its size in the next year and a half.  TrustPoint Hospital announced a $57 million expansion on Wednesday, which would add nearly 150 new beds and 400 new jobs to the facility.

Tennessee stands to lose millions in highway funding because of a recently passed bill, says Nashville Congressman Jim Cooper. The legislation deals with drivers ages 18 to 20. It changed the allowable Blood Alcohol Content from .02 to .08.

State Rep. Jeremy Durham is suspending his re-election campaign amid intense pressure from fellow lawmakers, following the release of a report detailing allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Franklin Republican announced his decision Thursday in a two-minute statement at his attorney’s office. Durham refused to take questions.

He says most allegations in the report from the Tennessee Attorney General are false, and those that are true have been taken out of context.

State Rep. Andy Holt’s campaign against traffic cameras has been given a big boost by Tennessee’s top lawyer.

 

In an opinion released this week, Attorney General Herbert Slatery writes the law plainly states only certified or state-commissioned law enforcement officers can review traffic camera footage and determine if violations have occurred.

Presumed GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has tapped Rep. Marsha Blackburn to speak at the upcoming Republican National Convention. She last spoke at the RNC in 2008 and commended Trump for doing a “very good job” in their first meeting on the Hill Thursday morning.
