Live Streams – Help and FAQ
What is the pop-up player?
The pop-up player is an Adobe Flash based audio player where you’ll find all 4 of our live streams in tabs. It plays our live streams in the AAC format, which has a better sound quality than MP3 streams.
How do I use iTunes or some other player?
On our live streams page, click the link of the stream you want to listen to in the “Live MP3 Streams” section. Whatever player is set as the default for opening MP3 files on your computer should launch and begin streaming.
What’s the best way to listen on a phone?
If you have an iPhone or Android, you can use our stand-alone app, The NPR app, or several other online radio apps. For more on your mobile listening options, click here.
How do I get the best sound quality?
The AAC stream in our pop-up player should give you the best sound quality. All of our channels are streamed at 48 kkbps. AAC files effectively double the quality of an MP3.
