A longstanding state senator is declaring victory in the narrow race to hold onto his seat, but his young challenger isn’t calling it quits just yet. The voting tallies swung back and forth between incumbent Nashville Senator Doug Henry, and his opponent in the Democratic primary, Jeff Yarbro.

Nashville Representatives Divided on Charter Schools

Representatives from Nashville are divided over whether the state should ease restrictions on charter schools. Mayor Karl Dean has visited the capitol to voice his support for such a measure, but backing from area lawmakers is not a sure thing.
