A controversial bill to mandate that a child in a divorce spend equal time with father and mother was resurrected Tuesday in Tennessee’s House of Representatives.
An “equal time” parenting bill sought by non-custodial parents – mostly dads – stayed alive this week in the Tennessee legislature. The proposal moved out of a key subcommittee, but with an amendment that softens it.
Lawmakers asked for more information Tuesday, as they debated a measure that would split child custody fifty-fifty for parents in a divorce. The bill’s sponsor says he’s dubious of what the statistics will show.
