“The Nutty Professor” Musical Mourns Its Composer

The death of renowned Broadway and Hollywood composer Marvin Hamlisch is being felt today in Nashville.

Hamlisch wrote the tunes for the new musical version of The Nutty Professor that’s playing here before heading to Broadway. The show’s website now bears the message, “Thank you Marvin, for all you gave us. We are honored to be singing your songs.”

While Hamlisch was scheduled to come to Nashville this week, he was still at his home in Los Angeles when he died. Marvin Hamlisch was 68 years old.
