State Sen. Herron (D-Dresden) Won’t Run for Re-election

Longtime State Senator Roy Herron says he won’t run for re-election this fall. Herron, a west-Tennessee Democrat, ran for Congress two years ago, but Republican Stephen Fincher won the contest.

Herron was first elected to the state House about 25 years ago, and moved to the senate 10 years later. He says after finishing his term in the senate this year he’ll head up the Ned McWherter Center for Rural Development, helping young people go to college.
