Metro Charter School Gets Second Chance

The Metro School Board has voted to give a troubled charter school a second chance.Last night, the board voted 5 to 3 to keep Drexel Preparatory Academy open for the remainder of the school year.

District administrators say Drexel hired unlicensed teachers and failed to provide adequate instruction to students with learning disabilities and those learning English as a second language.

Monday’s vote puts Drexel on extended probation. School officials say they’ll work to fix the problems.
