DA Refuses to Investigate Fairgrounds Petition

The Davidson County District Attorney sees no need to investigate a petition that put the issue of redeveloping the state fairgrounds on the ballot.

An attorney representing “Neighbors for Progress” had suggested petitions submitted by an opposing group to keep the fairgrounds at its current location were flawed.

However, DA Torry Johnson says in a statement that there were more than enough qualified signatures to get the issue before voters. He says tax payers of Davidson County wouldn’t be “well-served” by a lengthy review and that it’s likely any problems were innocent mistakes.
