Water Department Schedules First Flood Planning Meetings

A year-long flood planning process begins next week with a series of community meetings around Davidson County.

Metro Water Services will discuss potential flood reduction projects, which could range from additional levees to floodable soccer fields. Metro Water director Scott Potter said earlier this year the city wants to avoid a hodgepodge approach, which could fix one problem and cause another.

“If you do it comprehensively, then you’re going to be able to put water where it’s safest. You’re not going to be put in a situation where you’re doing project X without any influence on project Y.”

The meetings are spread out around the county.
