Westboro Plans Nashville Protests

A fundamentalist anti-gay group from Kansas is scheduled to protest around Nashville Monday. They plan to picket outside the Gordon Jewish Community Center and at the Islamic Center of Nashville.

In the afternoon, members of the Westboro Baptist Church will hold signs outside a memorial service for a Nashville marine named Kevin Balduf who died last month in Afghanistan.

Even with signs saying “God Hates Fags” and “You’re Going to Hell,” the U.S. Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that the First Amendment does protect Westboro’s protests outside military funerals.
