A combat engineer from Fort Campbell has died.
Specialist Gerald Jenkins was patrolling on foot in the Zahri District of Afghanistan when he was struck by an improvised explosive device.
Jenkins was 19 years old. The Ohio native was assigned to the 1st Brigade Team of the 101st Airborne Division. He is survived by his parents.
