Bredesen to Lead Follow Up Trade Mission to China

Governor Phil Bredesen will lead a team of economic development officials and business leaders on a 10-day trade mission to China next month. They’ll visit Beijing and Hong Kong.

The state opened the Tennessee-China Development Center in Beijing two years ago. Bredesen says he sees the trade mission as a “logical follow up.”

China is Tennessee’s third largest trading partner after Canada and Mexico. Last year, Chinese customers purchases $1.3 billion of Tennessee goods and services, led by chemicals and agricultural products.

The 29 participants include Tom Cigarran of Healthways, Alex Marks of Tower Investments, Lipscomb University’s John Lowry and Dr. Ming Wang of the Wang Vision Institute.
