Chesnut’s Condition Upgraded

The Metro Police officer shot during a traffic stop last week is showing signs of improvement.

Sgt. Mark Chesnut is still in Vanderbilt Medical Center’s intensive care unit, but his condition has been upgraded from critical to critical-stable.

The two men charged with attempting to kill Sgt. Chesnut are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. Joseph Jackson and Courtney Logan are both charged with attempted murder and unlawful gun possession. Jackson also faces charges related to his escape from a prison in Mississippi. He was serving a sentence there for aggravated assault and armed robbery.
